Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) explains his support for a balanced-budget amendment, tax reform, the Bush tax cuts, how he thinks the debt ceiling will be raised and more.
On this week’s PRESS Pass, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said he ultimately thinks the debt ceiling will be raised. The key, he said, is how they will get there. Lee, like many Republicans in Congress, believes any increase of the federal debt limit needs to be accompanied by “immediate cuts” in spending as well as a constitutional amendment to require Congress to have a balanced budget.
“That’s why we’ve attached it to the debt limit increase,” Lee said, although he acknowledged the political reality that such an amendment is not likely to pass. “If we’re going to raise the debt limit, we want permanent structural change.”

The bills of a decade of unfunded wars and their consenquences along with the surrender of common sense controls to an unapoligitic wall street have come due. The mantra of those responsible for the common good should be, "it's time for all good men to come to the aid of their country"! I fear however that we have not seen an end to their hubris.
when the republicans start talking about cutting back on medicare i suggest they remember what kind of voting power the seniors have.I for one will not forget how they vote.to balance the budget on the backs of the seniors that are on fixed incomes is just wrong.we will not forget.if your rich you have got it made.so that means we dont count.
